Important Updates Regarding the Qualified Oceanic Teams

Friday 8th November 2019
During the weekend of Oct 18-20, four teams descended on Sydney, Australia for the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND Asia CS:GO Open 2019 - OCE Regional Finals. The four teams in question were Grayhound, ORDER, Chiefs and AVANT.

During the qualifier, it was made aware to us by all teams that if they were to qualify for the grand finals in Shanghai, there would inevitably be a schedule conflict. The conflict arrives in the form of the upcoming ESL Pro League S10 Round 2, set to take place from November 16 - 18th, 2019 and played online.

The grand finals in Shanghai are set to take place from November 14th - 17th, and the two qualified Oceanic teams for eXTREMESLAND 2019 are: Grayhound and ORDER.
Coincidentally, all four teams present at the the eXTREMESLAND Regional Finals are also the teams that will take part in the ESL Pro League S10.At the time of the regional finals, there was no reason to make a decision, as we had not yet begun discussions with ESL on the matter. Competitive integrity is something we take seriously at eXTREMESLAND, and as such, the teams were forced to play out the qualifier in its entirety and stay true to the tournament format.

However, over the past few weeks, and after countless discussions with all teams involved as well as ESL Australia and ESL Global, we have come to a decision. Because there were so many elements to the equation (including visa statuses, logistics, fairness etc), we believe the final decision had to do it’s best to overcome these issues while remaining true to the competitive spirit of eXTREMESLAND.

Our goal was to keep the spread of countries and teams fair and balanced, and as always, giving opportunities to teams that don’t otherwise have them. This was not an easy decision to make, and, all parties involved shared their inputs to help us land at the final decision. While it was an unfortunate set of circumstances, we have decided to exclude all teams that attended the eXTREMESLAND OCE Regional Finals, and instead, invited two alternative teams from the OCE region.

As such, we are pleased to welcome: Genuine Gaming and GroundZero Gaming.
We would like to thank all the teams - Grayhound, ORDER, AVANT and Chiefs, as well as ESL for the continued support and cooperation. We are excited to share the possibility for Genuine and GroundZero to attend the eXTREMESLAND grand finals and we hope they are excited to fly the flag for their country in Shanghai!
See you all next week in China!
