LVG Advances to Semi-Finals, TYLOO Falls to Losers' Bracket

The ZOWIE 2023 eXTREMESLAND Asia Cup officially starts today. After six BO1 matches, MongolZ and LVG advanced to the semi-finals as group leaders, while TYLOO, after a fierce battle of five rounds of overtime against MongolZ, fell into the losers' bracket.

Group A Opening Match TYLOO 13-2 Incheon On Sla2ers (Inferno)

The South Korean team was caught off guard through banana in the pistol round by TYLOO's unconventional mid-push strategy and nearly turned the game around with a force buy, but JamYoung secured the win for TYLOO. In the first rifle round, the South Korean team managed to score their first point with excellent utility play, but aumaN quickly broke through Banana in the subsequent rounds. The South Korean team struggled to score, managing only one round with Desert Eagles, ending the first half with a 10-2 score.

After the side switch, TYLOO easily won the pistol round with a four men mid-defense. ON Sla2ers had no chance after losing the pistol round, and TYLOO quickly secured a 13-2 victory.

MongolZ 13-3 ACME (Mirage)

In the pistol round, MongolZ successfully executed a split attack on A site through underpass and arch, tearing apart ACME's defense. In the first rifle round, after getting the first kill at the arch, MongolZ moved to attack B site and succeeded. ACME struggled to defend, failing to score in the subsequent rounds. In the last round of the first half, ACME managed to defend A site and secured their first point with zayed winning a 1v2 for ACME, ending the first half 11-1.

After sides switched, ACME won the pistol round with a double key position setup first kill and managed to plant the bomb in the front, but Senzu couldn't overcome a 1v2 situation, making it 11-2. Although ACME won the force buy round, mzinho's smart play in an eco round helped MongolZ to turn the game around, securing a final score of 13-3.

Group A Winners' Final

MongolZ 28-26 TYLOO (Inferno)

TYLOO started strong as CTs, securing a 4-0 lead after the pistol round, but MongolZ's unpredictable pace and frequent site switches overwhelmed TYLOO, tying the score at 6-6 by the end of the first half.

After switching sides, MGLZ's gamble on A site defense paid off, winning the pistol round. TYLOO's attacks were consistently thwarted in the rifle rounds, with MGLZ securing match point at 12-7. However, TYLOO mounted a fierce comeback, forcing the game into overtime.

In overtime, both teams showcased impressive offense, continuing to tie the game at 0-3 and forcing further overtime. After five overtimes, MongolZ narrowly defeated TYLOO 28-26.

Group B Opening Match

LVG 13-5 NCTDK (Ancient)

NCTDK started strong on the offense with Talent's four kills in the pistol round, but their rush to B site was quickly countered by LVG. In the eighth round, Differ3nt and Pr0digy stepped up to secure NCTDK's second point. Talent, Differ3nt, and Pr0digy continued to perform, narrowing the score to 6-5. However, LVG regained the lead by the end of the first half.

After the side switch, z4kr's four kills in the pistol round secured the round for LVG. NCTDK couldn't defend against LVG's attacks, losing the second half without securing a single round and ultimately falling 13-5.

NKT 13-5 E9 (Nuke)

E9's Tikkkkk secured three kills with dual pistols in the pistol round. However, E9 struggled against NKT's aggressive offense, with the score quickly reaching 5-2. E9 managed to score a few rounds with opening kills but still ended the first half 8-4 down.

After switching sides, E9 won the pistol round thanks to Tikkkkk's opening kill and kylin's double kill. NKT turned the game around with a force buy, with XigN securing a double kill with a CZ75. NKT then rode the momentum to secure match point and ultimately won 13-5 with MiQ's triple kill.

Group B Winners' Final LVG 13-3 NKT (Anubis)

LVG, starting on the offense, secured the pistol round with a five-kill effort from Starry and Emilia. In the following rifle rounds, NKT managed to counter LVG's attacks with individual skill. However, LVG's successful mid-push with a pure eco strategy turned the tide back in their favor. NKT struggled to score on the CT side, ending the first half 10-2 down.

After sides switched, NKT's split attack on B site was successfully defended by LVG, and z4kr cleared the remaining players in the connector. LVG quickly secured a 13-3 victory against NKT after winning the pistol round.
